About the role
We are looking for a strong Linux Systems Admin, will commercial experience of Linux Servers (any distros). Reporting to the Director of Technology. As well as Linux administration the role includes systems administration tasks on networks, windows, and Linux servers, mail systems, phone systems, and other infrastructure tasks. Any experience with Cisco phone systems, VOIP, SIP is a plus. Computer / IT / engineering degree preferred or directly related experience.
Knowledge and Skills
Linux server hands on experience is a must. Linux systems administration background. Knowledge of Linux mail servers, backup solutions, deployment solutions, and using Linux systems across the IT infrastructure estate (virtualisation technologies etc.).
Networking to CCNA level (with or without the exam) is required. Some hands on with Windows Server, must demonstrate ability and willingness to support some Windows Server and systems e.g. Active Directory, etc. Good understanding of basic SQL and proficiency in administration of relational databases is an advantage, as is any Scripting/automation skills (Perl/Python/PowerShell/etc.)
Documentation skills, including networks diagrams. Good understanding of any mark-up language (HTML, Wiki) etc. Training will be provided where necessary however this is not a junior role, we need applications from people with commercial Linux experience only.
